ABOUT OUR WORKSHOPS

shadowsFor our Hawaii Photography Workshops we introduce a Zen approach to photographic composition, wherein the artist is encouraged to cultivate an awareness of the relationship of the elements, qualities of light as it conceals, reveals, and creates intricate patterns in nature, and a mindfulness of his/her self as the creative artist.

All workshops are on location at the islands’ most beautiful scenic destinations.

As a context for understanding the artist’s perspective, participants will be guided and encouraged to explore the dynamics of Visual Grammar in fine art photography exercises inspired by the teachings of Wassily Kandinsky of the Bauhaus School.
We will suggest participants be present and creative in these beautiful scenic spots, to admire their natural and ephemeral qualities, and create inspired photographic compositions, by experimenting and exploring through the lens of their camera.

Ecology of Photography

shooting(from Greek: οἶκος, “house” or “living relations”; -λογία, “study of”) is the interdisciplinary study of the distributions, abundance and relations of Light and organisms and their interactions with each other and the environment, and to explore the dynamics of Visual Grammar through the lens to refine one’s natural creative sensibilities, and practice the process of creating fine art photographic images with an appreciation of Hawaii’s Cultural and Natural Beauty.
